"So what does a gardener actually cost here?" is the first question in almost every WhatsApp chat we open — usually followed by a story about a quote that doubled once waste removal, feeding and the wet season entered the conversation. So here are our real 2026 numbers, published the same way they appear on our pricing page, plus the honest explanation of what moves each figure up or down.

Monthly Garden Maintenance Rates

Most villa owners want the same thing: a garden that always looks handover-ready without thinking about it. That is a maintenance plan, and it prices like this:

PlanGuide price (IDR)
Weekly plan — 4–5 visits/monthfrom 750,000 / month
Bi-weekly plan — 2 visits/monthfrom 450,000 / month
One-off garden cleanupfrom 500,000
Large / estate gardensby photo quote

Every plan includes mowing, pruning, weeding, feeding and — the line that surprises people — waste removal. Garden waste in Bali does not disappear on its own, and quotes that look cheap usually leave it out. The full scope is on the garden maintenance service page.

Lawn Work, Per Square Metre

Lawns are where tropical gardening gets technical, so lawn work prices separately from the plan:

WorkGuide price (IDR)
New turf laid, per m² (Manila grass)from 85,000
Lawn repair patchesfrom 350,000
Aeration visitfrom 350,000
Fungus / brown patch treatmentfrom 250,000

Turf pricing includes stripping the old surface, topsoil and grading — the parts that decide whether the new lawn survives its first rainy season. Details and grass choices live on the lawn care page, and our rainy-season lawn guide explains the November–March economics.

Landscaping Project Budgets

Projects are quoted per design, but the honest brackets look like this: a small courtyard or corner design-and-build starts from IDR 5,000,000; full villa gardens typically land between IDR 25,000,000 and 60,000,000 with plants, soil work and irrigation; a single dense mixed bed of about 10 m² runs 2,500,000–5,000,000 depending on plant maturity. Mature feature plants — a proper frangipani with presence — cost 500,000–3,000,000 delivered and planted, nursery-direct. The process from sketch to handover is on the landscaping page.

What Moves the Price

Five factors explain nearly every quote difference in Bali. Garden size and access — a walled Seminyak courtyard and a sloping Ubud quarter-hectare are different jobs at the same square meterage. Waste volume — tropical gardens produce astonishing green waste; removal is labour and a truck. Season — wet-season growth doubles the work between visits, which is why plans price for the year, not for August. Irrigation — a garden with working irrigation needs less rescue work, and we will say so in the quote. Plant maturity — in landscaping, the plant bill is the budget; young plants are cheap and slow, mature ones instant and not.

Getting a Real Quote

No obligation, and the quote includes everything the visit includes, itemised. We work across Canggu, Seminyak, Ubud, Sanur and all of south Bali.

FAQ

How much does a gardener cost per month in Bali?

A weekly maintenance plan (4–5 visits a month) starts from IDR 750,000 per month for a typical villa garden, including mowing, pruning, weeding, feeding and waste removal. A bi-weekly plan starts from IDR 450,000. Large or estate gardens are quoted from photos.

What does landscaping cost in Bali?

Small design-and-build projects (a courtyard or corner) start from IDR 5,000,000. Full villa gardens typically run IDR 25,000,000 and up depending on size, plant maturity and hardscape. A single planted bed with soil improvement and mulch starts from IDR 1,500,000.

Why do quotes differ so much between gardeners in Bali?

Four things: whether waste removal is included (ours is), crew size and tools, whether feeding and treatments are part of the plan or billed extra, and reliability — a cheap gardener who skips wet-season visits costs more in recovery work than the saving. Ask any quote to itemise exactly what a visit includes.

Is a one-off cleanup or a monthly plan better value?

If the garden is overgrown, start with a one-off cleanup (from IDR 500,000) to reach baseline, then keep it there with a plan — maintenance visits on a tidy garden are quick, which is what makes the monthly price low. Letting it overgrow between one-offs is the expensive pattern.
