Canggu gardens deal with a specific mix: salt-tinged onshore wind near Echo Beach and Batu Bolong, heavy clay subsoil from fast villa construction, and intense guest use. Within a few hundred metres of the beach we lean on salt-tolerant planting — frangipani, pandanus, bougainvillea, crotons — and keep delicate shade plants for protected courtyards.
