BaliGardener grew out of a simple frustration. Our founder spent 15 years as head gardener for villas and small resorts across south Bali, and kept watching the same story: a beautiful garden handed over by the landscaper, then maintained by whoever was cheapest — no plan, no plant knowledge, no schedule — until the owner paid to rebuild it two years later. We built the company to be the missing middle: a crew with real horticultural knowledge, on fixed plans, with the discipline of resort gardening applied to private villas. Today that crew maintains and builds gardens right across the south Bali tourist belt and inland toward Ubud.
The Way We Approach a Garden
It starts with a photo, not a visit. Send what you're looking at over WhatsApp and you'll have a quote the same day — and if it's genuinely a five-minute fix, we'll say so; that's the whole reason our watering guide exists.
Plant biology over guesswork. Nine times out of ten a failing Bali garden isn't neglect — it's a shade plant baking in full sun, a highland variety struggling at sea level, or turf fighting limestone underneath it. We match species to the actual sun, soil and wind of the spot, and that thinking carries through every service we offer.
The same faces, every visit. A maintenance contract here means one named crew, one weekday, one monthly price — not whoever's free that morning. That continuity is what catches a fungus outbreak in its first week instead of its eighth.
We haul off what we cut. Clippings and green waste leave in our truck at the end of every visit — never burned against the boundary wall, never stacked behind the pool equipment. It's a small detail, but it's the complaint we hear most often about previous gardeners.
What We'll Put in Writing
Plants we supply come with a 30-day survival promise — die on the agreed watering schedule and we replant at no charge, materials and labour both. Turf, irrigation lines, lighting and hardscape are covered against workmanship faults for a full 12 months after completion. Maintenance contracts carry no minimum term; stop finding us worth it and you simply stop the plan. None of that matters as much as the least exciting guarantee of all — the crew turns up on the agreed day, every time.
Who's Actually Holding the Shears
In-house training covers ground most crews skip entirely: which cut suits which species, when to feed what, spotting pests and fungus early, irrigation repairs, and climbing palms without incident. Anyone going up a trunk wears a harness and works with a proper lowering rope, machines get serviced on schedule, and the crew is uniformed and insured on every job. We don't compete on being cheap — we compete on being who villa managers call once the cheap option has already let them down.
