After 15 years of building gardens in Bali I have learned that the difference between a garden that looks spectacular at handover and one that still looks spectacular two years later is entirely in the planning. Anyone can buy a truckload of mature heliconias and make a courtyard look instantly lush. The skill is knowing that this corner floods every February, that wall reflects brutal afternoon sun, and that the soil under the builder's rubble is two metres of compacted clay. We design around what your site actually is — light, wind, drainage, soil — and build in the irrigation and access that makes the garden maintainable, not just photogenic.
What a Landscaping Project Includes
Design & Planting Plan
A measured layout with plant list, quantities and prices — shade plants for shade, sun plants for sun, and growth space planned so the garden improves with age instead of choking itself.
Soil & Drainage Preparation
Builder's rubble out, proper topsoil and compost in, drainage solved before anything is planted. This invisible stage decides whether your plants thrive or sulk.
Planting, Lawn & Hardscape
Trees and structural plants first, then beds, then turf — Manila or Pearl grass laid as a finished lawn. Paths, stepping stones, gravel and planters built alongside.
Irrigation & Lighting Rough-In
Drip lines and sprinkler pipework go in while the ground is open, plus conduit for garden lighting — retrofitting either later costs double. See our irrigation and lighting pages.
From Bare Plot to Finished Garden
Most of our projects fall into three types. New-build villas where we start from construction mud and deliver a complete garden — the biggest jobs, but also the most satisfying. Renovations where an existing tired garden gets restructured: usually the lawn is rebuilt, beds are reshaped and 60–70% of plants are kept and relocated rather than replaced, which saves serious money. And problem corners — the dead strip behind the pool, the shaded side passage where nothing survives — fixed as small standalone projects from IDR 5,000,000.
We buy plants directly from growers we have worked with for years, mostly around Denpasar and Bedugul, which is why our plant prices are usually below retail garden centres. Every plant carries the same 30-day survival guarantee as our planting service, and most clients roll into a maintenance plan after handover — a new garden needs disciplined watering and pruning in its first three months more than at any other time.
How We Work
Site visit and brief
We walk the site with you, talk through how you use the space, and note light, wind, drainage and soil conditions.
Concept and fixed quote
You get a layout sketch, a plant list with photos and a fixed price with timeline. We revise until you are happy — the concept stage is free.
The build
Soil, hardscape, irrigation, planting, lawn — in that order. A typical villa garden takes 2–6 weeks depending on size.
Handover and aftercare
We hand over with a watering and care schedule, and check the garden again after 30 days under the plant guarantee.
What It Costs
Small courtyard and corner projects start from IDR 5,000,000. A typical full villa garden — soil work, planting, 100–200 m² of lawn, irrigation rough-in — usually lands between IDR 25,000,000 and 80,000,000 depending on plant maturity and hardscape. The single biggest price lever is plant size: the same design planted with young stock costs a fraction of instant-jungle maturity. Guide rates per element are on the pricing page.
