The lawn is the first thing guests photograph and the first thing the climate destroys. In 15 years of growing lawns here I have seen every failure mode Bali offers: turf laid on builder's clay that drowned in the first wet season, Manila grass planted in deep shade where it thinned to mud, lawns scalped short before a rainy week and eaten alive by fungus. A good Bali lawn is not luck — it is the right grass for the light, real soil preparation underneath, and a mowing rhythm that follows the season. We do all three, which is why our lawns are still dense in March when everyone else's are patchy.
What Our Lawn Service Covers
New Turf Installation
Old growth stripped, 5–10 cm of proper topsoil and sand mix graded for drainage, turf laid tight and rolled. From IDR 85,000/m² all-in, walkable in about three weeks.
Grass Selection
Manila grass (rumput manila) for sunny, hard-wearing lawns; Pearl grass (rumput mutiara) for softer, shadier areas; Japanese grass for fine ornamental patches. We tell you honestly which will work in your light.
Mowing & Feeding Programs
Mowing at correct height on a seasonal schedule, edges kept sharp, slow-release fertiliser through the year — usually as part of a maintenance plan.
Repair, Aeration & Fungus Control
Brown patch and dollar spot treated early, compacted areas aerated, bare patches re-turfed, and drainage fixed where water sits — the full toolkit from our rainy season lawn guide.
Why Bali Lawns Fail — and How We Build Ones That Don't
Ninety percent of dead lawns we are called to share one autopsy: water. Either too much of it sitting on compacted soil through the wet season, rotting roots and feeding fungus, or too little of it in August when the dry-season wind strips moisture faster than a hose-wielding staff member can replace it. That is why we grade for drainage before laying a single roll of turf, and why we recommend simple irrigation on any lawn the owner is not watering personally every day.
The second killer is the wrong grass. Manila grass wants six hours of direct sun — under a big frangipani it thins out no matter how much you feed it. In those shaded zones we switch to Pearl grass or redesign the area as a planted bed, which always looks better than fighting biology. Mowing height matters too: we never cut more than a third of the blade, and in the rainy season we mow every 7–10 days because letting tropical grass get long and then scalping it is an open invitation to disease.

What It Costs
New turf is from IDR 85,000/m² laid, including removal of old growth, topsoil and grading — Manila grass at the base rate, Pearl and Japanese grass slightly higher. Lawn repair patches are quoted per area, aeration from IDR 350,000 per visit, and fungus treatment from IDR 250,000. Ongoing mowing is cheapest inside a maintenance plan — full rates on the pricing page.
